Japan’s Ami Nakai wins Grand Prix de France after Yuna Aoki falters

Japanese skater Ami Nakai successfully defended her title at the Grand Prix de France in the women’s singles free skate, overcoming a third-place position after the short program to finish ahead of Anastasiia Gubanova and Italy’s Lara Naki Gutmann. The 18-year-old, a bronze medalist at the Milan-Cortina Olympics earlier this year, scored 149.08 points in the free skate and 219.74 overall. In ice dance, Olympic champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron won the title.
