Mahama warns Africa against becoming a geopolitical battleground
At the 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, President John Dramani Mahama urged African countries to take a more proactive role in shaping the emerging global order. He warned that Africa should not become an arena for external rivalry over critical minerals, supply chains and technology, and said the African Continental Free Trade Area should not be left out of that effort. As chairperson of the Tana Forum Board, he also presented the 2026 State of Peace and Security in Africa Report.
