Stan Wawrinka brings his career to a close in Basel after defeat by Jiri Lehecka

Stan Wawrinka played the final match of his career in Basel, losing 7-5, 7-6(2) to Czech player Jiri Lehecka at the Swiss Indoors. The three-time Grand Slam champion had announced last year that he would retire at the end of the 2026 season, and he said afterward that he wanted to leave the sport without regrets after more than 20 years as a professional.
